The perfect spring adventure is coming to Carousel Theatre. The Secret World of Og is a world premiere of a classic children’s fable from one of Canada’s most prolific writers, Pierre Berton. A favourite childhood story for many Canadians, this dog-eared book has lived on thousands of bookshelves all over the country! Penny, Pamela, Patsy and Peter are bewildered when they discover that their baby brother Paul has inexplicably disappeared from their playhouse. When Pamela notices a trap door in the playhouse floor, the four siblings descend into a murky subterranean country, searching for their baby brother. There they discover a secret comic book world inhabited by mysterious green creatures whose language of choice is… “Og!”

Governor General Award-winning playwright Kevin Kerr’s script adaptation was 3 years in the making, after being commissioned by Carousel Theatre. Artistic Director Carole Higgins was a huge fan of the children’s book when she was a little girl, and was able to obtain exclusive stage rights. The talented cast includes ANNA CUMMER, MEGAN MARIE GATES, ANNA HAGAN, ASLAM HUSAIN, TAMARA MCCARTHY, JULIE McISAAC, MARCIE NESTMAN, and RICHARD NEWMAN. A feast for the eyes (and the imagination), Carousel Theatre’s production will feature the work of Director CAROLE HIGGINS, Set Designer ALISON GREEN, Costume Designer BARBARA CLAYDEN, Lighting Designer ITAI ERDAL, puppets by HEIDI WILKINSON and a sound design team led by PATRICK PENNEFATHER. Stage Management is by SAMARA VAN NOSTRAND, with Apprentice Stage Manager BENJAMIN CHEUNG.
