London sits in the middle of the Cherokee National Forest on a dirt road; Rome is little more than a few houses on the road between Lebanon and Carthage. Paris, the biggest of the towns, is home to 9,764 people. Based on interviews, videos, photos, observations and meetings collected by Theatre Replacement (TR) from the residents of these small towns, The Greatest Cities in the World maps out what it means to be a citizen of our constantly shrinking world. The Greatest Cities in the World features musical composition and direction by Veda Hille, lighting design by Jonathan Ryder, set design by Jesse Garlick, costume design by Allison Wells, technical direction by Elia Kirby, and stage management by Kelly Barker. The Greatest Cities in the World is the winner of the Rio Tinto Alcan Performing Arts Award: Theatre 2010. Next year's winner, in the discipline of music, will be announced at opening night on March 9th, 2010. The Greatest Cities in the World runs March 9 - 13, 2010, at 8 pm at The Cultch, located at 1895 Venables Street (at Victoria Drive). For more information, visit www.thecultch.com.
