Wanted: “A man who will interest, move and seduce me.” Pi Theatre kicks off its 2007/08 season with Carole Fréchette’s modern love story John & Beatrice. Playing from November 14 - December 1, 2007 at the newly opened PAL Theatre, 8th floor, 581 Cardero Street. The play examines the painful and difficult challenge of finding a companion in today’s increasingly insular society. Beatrice (Karen Rae), “who has never loved, not even her cat,” places an ad, “Well-to-do young heiress is seeking a man who will interest, move and seduce her.” She sits in an office tower waiting for Mr. Right. But unlike Rapunzel, when John (Vincent Gale) appears, the games begin. If he wins…what then?
Governor-General award-winning playwright Carole Fréchette (Élisa’s Skin, Helen’s Necklace) has reached new heights with this riveting work. Relationships and their complexities resonate with everyone.
