Horrific events are overwhelming the entirety of human civilization. Four strangers must decide what to do with what could be their final hours. Should they pray? Fight back? Repopulate the earth? Or just get to know each other a little better? Cozy Catastrophe is a dark comedy about ordinary folks bound together by extraordinary circumstance.

In I’m So Close..., Steve finds himself plunged into the fast-paced world of billion-dollar business in his desire to make the world a greener place. His success propels him to dive more and more into his iPhone and to drift further and further away from his wife Stella. I’m So Close… is a heartbreaking love song, droned out by the hum of the technological landscape that is bringing us together and pushing us apart.

Written by Nicolas Billon, Ravi Jain, Katrina Bugaj and Troels Hagen Findsen | Featuring Ravi Jain, Katrina Bugaj and Troels Hagen Findsen | Dramaturgy by Jennifer Tarver | Design by Trevor Schwellnus, Jamie Nesbitt, Gina Scherr, Mark Huang and Kelsey Hart

April 13 – 17, 7pm
Matinee April 17, 3pm

created by The Chop Theatre
in association with Rumble Productions
at the Vancity Culture Lab at The Cultch

The Chop Theatre brings you their latest creation, KISMET one to one hundred.

In the spring of 2009, four artists set out across Canada to interview one hundred people, ages 1 through 100, about their experiences and beliefs around kismet – fate and destiny. What they discovered on the road – a myriad of personal stories of mystery, joy and endurance – became the anchor for a fascinating and intimate show that blends verbatim interviews with the experience of the travellers.

Written by Anita Rochon, Emelia Symington Fedy, Hazel Venzon and Daryl King | Directed by Anita Rochon | Featuring Emelia Symington Fedy, Hazel Venzon and Daryl King | Dramaturgy by Lois Anderson and Camille Gingras | Visual Design by Drew Facey | Lighting Design by Gina Scherr | Sound Design by Antoine Bédard

All main stage tickets are $10 + s/c. Reservations at The Cultch Box Office, 604.251.1363, online at tickets.thecultch.com.

In addition to the main stage offerings, Rumble will present a series of ancillary events.

The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret performs every night of the Festival, 8 – 10pm.

This season’s ancillary offerings include Soon The Space Will Be Too Small, by the Commercial Drive art ensemble Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret. Visual artists, musicians and performers will create a series of installation-based short performances that will run throughout the festival in the basement of the Cultch.

TREMORS Showcase – Saturday, April 10, 9pm at the Vancity Culture Lab at The Cultch.

A minimum of five local Artistic Directors will be in attendance for a special showcase where theatre artists who have worked professionally for less than five years will have the opportunity to perform an original monologue for an audience of peers and established professionals.

The festival will also feature a free workshop for high school students taught by the main stage artists, as well as a staged reading of The Lamentable Tragedy of Sal Capone and a premiere performance of ribcage: this wide passage (presented in association with urban ink).
