To wrap up its 30th touring season, the Arts Club presents the Firehall Arts Centre's production of Circle Game: Reimagining the Music of Joni Mitchell.

One of the most influential recording artists of the late 20th century, Joni Mitchell has often reflected on social and environmental ideals through her music. Circle Game reinterprets Mitchell's iconic songs such as "Big Yellow Taxi," "River," "California," and "A Case of You" through the ears and eyes of a new generation, connecting to the politics and world we know today.

Firehall Arts Centre's Artistic Producer Donna Spencer said, "I am very excited and honoured that the Arts Club has chosen to present the Firehall production of Circle Game to venues across the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island. As a smaller producing theatre company, it is often difficult for us to tour our work to other communities in British Columbia, and this partnership is making that possible. Audiences have really enjoyed the production and the talented creative team in the performances at the Firehall, and it is fabulous to be able to share this work beyond Vancouver."

Arts Club Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran said, "We are thrilled to partner with the Firehall Arts Centre on a show celebrating the work of one of Canada's foremost singer-songwriters. Andrew and Anna's concept for Circle Game is ingenious—combining Joni Mitchell's stunning work with the enthusiasm, curiosity, and charisma of a young and talented cast. Its creative arrangements and playful staging really showcase this group of quadruple-threat performers."

Circle Game received three Jessie Richardson Award nominations and five Ovation Award nominations, and won 2018 Ovation Awards for Outstanding Professional Production and Outstanding Music Direction.

ABOUT THE ARTS CLUB
The Arts Club, one of the largest not-for-profit theatre companies in the country, is the principal gathering place for the theatrical arts in British Columbia. Comprising three unique venues across Vancouver, the Arts Club welcomes more than a quarter million guests annually, tours provincially and nationally, and engages students and artists alike through educational and professional programs.

Above all, the Arts Club is dedicated to the advancement of local artists telling stories from around the globe and, in particular, those of our region. From this, we believe that culture expands, an understanding of differences is nurtured, and art bursts forth. The Arts Club was founded in 1964 and is currently led by Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran and Executive Director Peter Cathie White.
