A comedy thriller, MURDER by the BOOK is a particularly puzzling play.

Who is dead and why and who the murderers are changes from moment to moment.

Metro Theatre is pleased to present Murder by the BOOK, written by Duncan Greenwood & Robert King and directed by Stephen Torrence. This inventive, light-hearted thriller is on our stage January 20 to February 10, 2018.

Murder by the Book is a funny play that can be described as a twisty-turny game of CLUE, brought to life. Anyone who remembers playing the classic Parker Brothers game knows that it is a fun and frustrating guessing game – “Professor Plum in the library with a candlestick” or was it “Coronel Mustard in the Dining Room with a knife”?

Murder by the Book is a glimpse into a witty murder plot gone awry in the English flat of famous writer and critic Selwyn Piper when he crosses swords with his volatile estranged wife Imogen. A delicious blend of betrayal, collusion and intrigue sprinkled generously with clever word plays keeps the audience second-guessing as to what’s really going on. Just when you think you have figured out who-done-it and done-it again, you are delightfully flummoxed by deadly twists and turns.

Director Stephen Torrence: “The killer is obvious.  But who is dead? Now that’s a good question. You’ll have to see the show to find out.”

Murder by the BOOK stars
Samuel B Barnes (as Selwyn Piper)
Heather Billington (as Christine Scott)
Emma Greenhalgh (as Imogen Piper)
Dovreshin MacRae (as Peter Fletcher)
Michael Jones (as John Douglas).

The show is directed by Stephen Torrence, produced by Rita M Price and stage managed by James Mainguy. Photo credits: Tracy Lynn Chernaske.
