Where the Wild Things Are

Back by popular demand at Presentation House Theatre

Littlest theatregoers invited to join in and "let the wild rumpus start!"

Back by popular demand, Presentation House Theatre’s multi-award-winning production of Where the Wild Things Are comes home to eager young audiences Nov 29 to Dec 15 with a call to littlest theatregoers to "let the wild rumpus start!"

This highly interactive adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s beloved classic children’s book has delighted sold-out audiences across Canada and the USA. Mischievous Max, sent to bed without his supper, embarks on imaginary travels to a land of wild creatures and extraordinary adventures. Young audiences are invited to jump right in and help transform Max’s bedroom into the many landscapes of his escapades, get to know his benevolent monster friends, and ultimately guide him safely home.

In a recent review of PHT’s performance of Where the Wild Things Are at Seattle Children’s Theatre, BroadwayWorld.com hailed it as “Adorably interactive… a magical journey that is just as amazing for the adults as it is for the kids… I just cannot stress how much you need to bring your kids to check [it] out… It's a truly joyfully wild time.” ParentMap.com also lauded, “Kids will love this wild, highly participatory production… a complete delight… highly engaging… an excellent introduction to theater for young kids. Be prepared for a room full of roars and unlimited fun.”

British Columbia’s Public Libraries recommend Where the Wild Things Are as one of the “100 Books to Read in Kindergarten” for imagination. Adapted for the stage by TAG Theatre Glasgow, Scotland, Where the Wild Things Are is a true and inventive re-telling of Sendak’s literary children’s classic. Recognized for its unforgettable illustrations as much as its delightful story, the book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the most celebrated picture books ever. In 1964, it was awarded the Caldecott Medal from the children's librarians for "most distinguished American picture book for children." In 2009, the National Education Association named the book one of its "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children."
