“A spectacular evening of theatre! ...Delamont has an almost supernatural gift for storytelling” - CBC Manitoba
From 20-time 'Best of the Fest' winning performer Mike Delamont and Dirk Van Stralen, the critically acclaimed director of Jake’s Gift, comes a heart-breaking, funny and endearing true story of addiction, music, and love. Mama's Boy is the intimate and beautiful tale of a young boy being raised by a single mother struggling with an alcohol addiction her entire life, told through the eyes of one of Canada’s most popular comedians.
Widely known as the fringe-stage persona and creator/star of the hit comedy God Is A Scottish Drag Queen trilogy, Victoria’s Mike Delamont offers the wrenchingly revealing story of his relationship with his mother. Delamont was adopted as a baby. His adoptive father died when he was seven, leaving him in the sole custody of a mom who, little by little, lost herself to alcoholism over the course of Delamont’s younger years. “His memoir, which pretty much alternates between the comic and the tragic, is funny and moving, earning a standing ovation at its debut. And, as a matter of fact, he has a lovely singing voice.” (Randall King – Winnipeg Free Press).
