The pre-teen battle for perfection begins!

Anvil Theatre presents The Search Party's production of Dance Nation by Clare Barron, running November 13–23, 2025. Dance Nation was a 2019 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama and focuses on a pre-teen dance team battling to win a national championship.  

Dance Nation is fierce, funny, and unafraid to tackle the messy business of growing up, competing, and claiming space in the world. Come ready to laugh, cheer, and maybe even cringe as these young dancers pirouette their way through triumphs and meltdowns.

Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they'll claw their way to the top at the Boogie Down Grand Prix in Tampa Bay. In Clare Barron's raucous and hilarious play of ambition and ferocity, these young dancers have more than choreography on their minds, because every plié and jeté is a step toward finding themselves, and a fight to unleash their power.
