Up next in First Impressions Theatre's 43 season is LUNENBURG by Norm Foster
When Iris Oulette (played by Kerrie Givens Hart) inherits a house that she didn't even know existed, she and her close friend Natalie Whitaker (played by Amanda Taffs) travel from Maine to the town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, to have a look at her new property. The counterpoint to this friendly road trip is neighbour and bon-vivant Charlie Butler (played by Ryan Crocker in his 33rd acting stint with this company!)
What follows in the story is a series of world-changing surprises, a mystery-filled comedy with new revelations at every turn leading to heart-warming personal transformations, and a fall-down funny romantic adventure.
Directed by Artistic Director Claude Giroux, Foster's play takes place in an idyllic landscape, standing in for the pastoral landscapes of the ancients, where the essential questions of life are discussed and where knowledge and a friendly ghost can temper the passions to create a more balanced frame of mind. This may be the deepest form of comedy of all.
In the late 1990s, Kerrie was in many plays with First Impressions, including Heaven Can Wait, A Christmas Carol, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Harvey, The Man Who Came to Dinner and Noises Off. In most of these shows she either starred with or was directed by Ryan Crocker. After that, she moved to Calgary and performed shows there, raised a family and we are thrilled to be welcoming her back.
LUNENBURG runs November 12 to 28, in the Deep Cove Shaw Theatre, 4360 Gallant Avenue, North Vancouver. For tickets and information go to www.firstimpressionstheatre.com or call 604-929-9456.
