NOV. 26-DEC. 24, 2011

For a naughty and nice alternative this Holiday Season, the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company is presenting the fabulous Broadway hit musical La Cage aux Folles, on stage at the Vancouver Playhouse from November 26 to December 24, 2011. Tickets can be reserved online at vancouverplayhouse.com, by calling the Playhouse Box Office at 604 873 3311, or in person at the theatre box office Monday - Friday, 10am-5pm. La Cage aux Folles is generously sponsored by Great-West Life.

This tuneful and touching tale is one family’s struggle to stay together… stay fabulous… and above all else, stay true to themselves! Georges owns a glitzy nightclub in lovely St. Tropez and his partner, Albin, is the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When George’s son brings his fiancée’s conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test. The glorious score of hummable melodies by Jerry Herman and the book by Harvey Fierstein will have audiences in stitches every night (and matinees too!).

THE COMPANY

DAVID M. ADAMS (M. Renaud), GREG ARMSTRONG-MORRIS (Albin), KAZUMI EVANS (Colette), IAN YURI GARDNER (Mercedes), ANNABEL KERSHAW (Mme. Renaud/Mme. Dindon), DAVID MARR (Georges), JOHN MCHENRY (Francis), COREY PAYETTE (Hercule), SCOTT PERRIE (Jean-Michel), TRACY POWER (Anne), MARK SHELLING (Fisherman), REBECCA SHOICHET (Jacqueline), DEBBIE TIMUSS (Angelique), VINCENT TONG (Jacob), and ANDREW WHEELER (Edouard Dindon).

Adding a truly Vancouver twist, this Playhouse production will feature artists from the local drag community: PEACH COBBLAH (Hanna) produces East Van’s drag show Apocalypstick Sunday nights at The Cobalt, and hosts HipHopalypstick the first Sunday of each month;  KIKI LAWHORE (Phaedra) has performed at some of Vancouver's biggest stages including the River Rock, Celebrities, and Odyssey; CELESTIAL SEASONS (Odette) has performed in many cities across Canada at Pride extravaganzas and numerous fundraisers in 2010 as Ms. Gay Vancouver XXX;  IONA WHIPP (Derma) has a deep love for the stage, skyrocketing to performer extraordinaire as a model, actress, singer, and dancer; and CADENCE WINTER MATTHEWS (Chantal) performs at various nightclubs and special events. You may also recognize her from a recent article about gender transition surgery in Vancouver Magazine.
